Its called THE ZIGZAG HURLEY SPONSOR ME SHOOT OUT. Others call it the IDOLS of Surfing. A unique surfing competitions similar to the Idols voting format looking for underground surfing talent and giving oppurtunity to the local beach rippers to get sponsored in South Africa. It has been three solid months of campaigning on the Zigzag / Hurley Sponsor Me Shootout, with over 320 candidates vying for the ultimate prize of a Professional surfing Hurley sponsorship contract, loads of editorial in Zigzag and a free photo surf-trip to Indo. Tens and thousands of votes on our on-line voting system was conducted to find our 5 finalists with the help our judging panel of former World Tour competitor, Royden Bryson, Hurley Team manager, Liam Wood, and Zigzag’s Editor, Will Bendix. Surfers from all over the country from CT, Strand, Mossel Bay, Stilbaai, Vic Bay, Plett, St Francis, Jeffreys bay, P.E, Transkei, S.coast, Bluff, Durban and even some international countrys took part. We have now reached the point where we announce the 5 finalists who we take on to final stage of the Shootout – Monday the 10th to Friday the 14th A week long ‘free-surfing shootout’ at secret locations around Southern Cape. Competitors will surf it off on a daily bases at different locations being covered by Zigzag Magazine online, top photo and video graphers. Surfers at the end of every evening will all analyse the photos and video and vote for their favourite surfer on the day on different catagories Most Flare Most style Most Charisma Most explosive surfing etc The finalist will be announced by zigzag.co.za and Hurley on the 21 August The finalists are as follows: (in alphabetical order) - Chris Bond - Muizenberg - Ewald van Heerden - Melkbos - Adin Jeenes – Victoria Bay - John Mitchiletti – Sea point - Jasper Eales - Llandudno
